QUESTION 1 - When you go out to lunch with friends, who decides the place to eat?
Not me. I don’t want to force my preferences on everyone else.
I do. The sooner someone decides, the sooner we all get lunch!
QUESTION 2 - What feels better: getting a compliment on your work or knowing for yourself you did a good job?
Knowing I did a good job. I keep high standards for myself and compliments are more of a byproduct.
Getting a compliment. I like to know for sure I did a good job, and the only way to know is to check with someone else.
QUESTION 3 - If someone gives you a project with no deadline, what do you do?
I tell them I’ll get around to it whenever I’m in the mood, since there’s no urgency.
I create a deadline myself and write it down. I want to make sure it gets done.
QUESTION 4 - If someone at a restaurant gets your order wrong, what do you do?
I hunt down the server and demand they change my order. I make sure they know they screwed up.
I politely ask the server to fix my order, or I just shrug it off. It’s not worth my time to make a fuss, and I’m grateful I even get to dine out.
QUESTION 5 - You just got fired from your job. What do you do next?
I think hard about why that job didn’t work out, then I write out my game plan for what I’m doing next and start acting on it.
I go get drunk with my friends. I’ll figure out what I’m doing tomorrow, right now I just need to vent about how I got screwed over.
QUESTION 6 - It’s a Sunday evening. How do you feel about Monday?
I don’t even want to think about Monday. I’m trying to enjoy the last few hours of my weekend.
Can’t wait! Now that I’m rested up, I have all these great ideas for how to grow the business.
QUESTION 7 - You find out someone who works for you has started sleeping with a client or coworker. What do you do?
I leave it alone and trust it’ll work itself out. That conversation is going to be awkward no matter what.
I meet with that person and explain exactly why their behavior is unprofessional, then I calmly demand that they put a stop to it. Or, if I can, I fire them.
QUESTION 8 - Why do entrepreneurs start their businesses?
To deliver an important product or service to the people who need it most and make money in return for value.
To get filthy rich! They talk about “causes” because it’s good PR, but really, the only thing they care about is the money.
QUESTION 9 - If I told you I would give you a $1,000,000 check every year for the rest of your life, what would you do?
Buy a house on the beach and chill out. Why worry about anything else?
Invest it in my business so I can turn it into even more money and make a bigger impact.
